How to Make Your Home Appear Bigger for a Quick Sale

Small homes are often appealing to a young couple Tiny homes builder, or bachelors that don't need as much space. They are also purchased by first time home buyers that don't have enough capital for a significant down payment on a larger home. While they may seem quaint or cute at the time of purchase, they do represent a major downside when you want to sell and move on to bigger pastures. However, there is always a market for small homes, and although they fit well into the first time buyer market, small homes sell better when they seem to be larger than they are. So how does one create an illusion of space in a tiny home? The idea is to not be constantly aware of the walls or any other enclosing. To do this, you have to create the illusion of infinity. Do not paint your walls a colour that is dark enough to set your attention to its boundary. In other words, your line of vision should not stop at the wall. If you paint your walls white, very light crystal blues or creamy pastels, your focus will extend beyond the distance of the wall. This is a commonly well known illusion that is often used even in larger homes to make them seem bigger still. Another way of creating an illusion of endless boundaries is to install mirrors in strategic areas. It is particularly effective in small narrow areas or hallways. A living room or bedroom can sometimes benefit the use of mirrors on one of the wall if it lacks some depth. In the bedroom, if there are sliding closets, you can convert the doors to make sliding mirrors. If you have a staircase that is against the wall and made of wood or some other surface that cannot be painted, then a few mirrored panels will eliminate the sense of confinement. If you want to accentuate both the effects of the light paint and mirrors, then you need to create as much light as possible. If you have large windows, don't place any drapes and you should only have shears to allow as much possible light as you can. You may also elect to only show your home during the day when you have that maximum amount of light entering the home. You may also want to have some small but effective lamps. Don't use lamps that have big lamp shades instead opt for track lighting. You may want to use the lamps in tandem with the natural lighting. A good amount of light will enhance any efforts you have made with the mirrors and wall colour. Finally, make sure that you don't over clutter the home. Keep it as sparse as possible and take out any oversized or redundant furniture. You need to create an image of space and that means clean and clear of obstacles. If after all that you are still having difficulty selling your home and you feel it is because of the size of your home. You do have another option.
